Welcome to WebGroove® Script!
Thanks for downloading! You've got the power to make the most out of HTML, SQL, JavaScript,
Perl and other open standards. This is a serious solution for professional Web site developers.
WebGroove® Script has the unique distinction of combining both a dynamic
real-time server module (the Agent) and a powerful compiler (oddly enough called the Compiler).
 Brief Overview
WebGroove® Script is a scripting language that builds HTML and
script files that are interpreted to produce dynamic, database-driven pages
for your Web site. The Compiler makes your scripts more efficient by
pre-compiling files into HTML, text and Agent script files.
The Agent lets you process forms, cookies and other dynamic tasks and connect to
most any data source with ODBC or directly to mSQL and MySQL.
 How to Use WebGroove® Script
You will need a text, HTML or programming editor to create source files. Simply produce
an HTML as you normally would but enhance them with Compiler and Agent tags and macros
to make your projects more consistent and easier to create and manage. If you have Windows
95, 98 or NT you can use the Windows Explorer or compatible file and directory manager to
manage, edit and compile source files by right-clicking on source and project file icons.

File Types |
Ext | Icon | Description |
wg | | Source files are HTML with additional WebGroove® Script tags and used used to produce a single HTML file or Agent script. |
wgp | | Compiler project files contain HTML-like instructions for building the project and what HTML files and Agent scripts to produce. |
wga | | Agent scripts are executed by your Web server (assuming your WebGroove® Script is installed properly) to produce dynamic and interactive pages. |
 What You Need
You must have a Web browser and some kind of text or HTML editor.
If you are going to connect to a database for dynamic
pages you should have a Web server running locally or have access to one that
is properly-configured with WebGroove® Script.
 Getting Started
Okay, you've got a few things to learn before you can get the most out of WebGroove® Script. Most of
it looks a lot like HTML because Script tags are in standard HTML format.
Included in the installation are a few examples for your viewing pleasure. Some of the
examples will require you have a properly-configured Web server running. There are several
ways to compile the example project, which are all covered in the README.TXT file.
If you have a Server Configured
The easiest way is to compile through your web browser by simply
accessing the project file called 'groove.wgp'. If you aren't using Microsoft(r) IIS
you will need to setup filters for ".wga" and ".wgp" file along with a directory
alias for /webgroove. If your installation was successful and your web server is running,
this link should start the compiler.
Once the project is compiled, you should start at the
main example page.
